2008 Presidental Race Moving Across Party Lines for Republicans

Even though the state of Indiana appears to be a non-player in this year’s primaries in the Democratic and Republican parties, locals feel confused about who they would actually vote for.

Mike W from Newburgh Indiana, a self described die-hard GOP supporter, isn’t sure who he’ll vote for in this round of the primaries, much less the general election.

Tracy K from Princeton Indiana, also a self described as a GOP supporter, doesn’t know what way he’ll lean in the primaries.  What is interesting is that Tracy says if he only had a choice between Clinton and Obama, he would vote Obama.  He says that the “vote” for Obama is not only a vote for Obama, described as a uniter, and also a vote against Clinton.

One of the strengths of the GOP is thought to be once a clear front runner is established, the party normally unities and falls in rank behind the front runner.  With no established front runner after three states (Huckabee in Iowa, McCain in New Hampshire, and Romney now in Michigan), this GOP primary promises to be something not seen in decades: an actual contested primary.
